Oversize Shipping Charges
We know you love our huge draft boards. They are literally the best that money can buy....in just about every way possible. But there is a drawback, the huge draft boards are costly to ship nowadays. If you get to the checkout and get sticker shock from shipping, please accept our sincerest apologies. We just cannot afford to eat the cost any longer.

Problem
Fedex and UPS reduced the size that triggered oversize shipping charges from 60" long to 48".
How we used to handle it We programmed our site to correctly add the surcharge in some circumstances. Where we didn't have it programmed properly, we just ate the cost as a good-faith gesture.
How we are handling it now We redid all of our shipping to account for the oversize options. Now (and there are still some exceptions that we have not fixed) if your draft kit ships as longer than 48", you'll see an additional (between $6 and $16) charge built into your shipping rate.
How we're helping you We saw this coming a few years ago. Where possible, we've redesigned our draft boards and have invested in customized packaging to ship smaller. For example, we reduced the Elephant 17R down to 16 rounds so it can be printed on 47" paper that we get custom-made from our vendor. And we ship that in a 48.25" (rounds down to 48") box.
How can I avoid the higher shipping cost There are a handful of products that NEVER ship oversize, and there are a handful of products that ALWAYS ship oversize. There are some exceptions, but this is a good guide.

The Future of Large Draft Boards We're gonna keep making them. But the writing is on the wall. All you heard over Christmas is how Fedex/UPS trucks were completely full, nationwide. That was no lie. And the carriers' tolerance for large bulky items has waned recently. They are going to keep adding costs on large items.
Our Future Plans We're going to keep shipping these draft boards. And we're going to keep innovating. Some strategies that we have either already installed or are planning to do so in the not-too-distant future include:
•Reusable and/or magnetic draft boards You just have to get the new players each year, so shipping is minimal.
•Multiple draft boards at the same time We'd like to be able to offer a compelling reason to get 2 or 3 or 4 years worth of draft boards at once, so all we'd have to do is send labels. So far, we haven't figured out a value proposition for both you and Bruno's, but we're working on it.
•2 Boards instead of one If you've been annoyed by our 2-board layouts, please understand that this is in response to the shippers' hatred of large packages.
•Folded Draft Boards instead of Rolled Some of our draft boards would be fine if not rolled. But we know everyone loves the uncreased layout. Stay tuned here.
Bottom line....we feel your pain. Thanks for understanding.
