2020 Fantasy Football News Related to COVID-19 (Updated 5/11/20)
WE PLAN TO UPDATE THIS PAGE AS WE THINK OF NEW ITEMS TO ADD. IT MAY NOT BE COMPLETE WHEN YOU VIEW IT AS THIS JUST REPRESENTS OUR TAKE ON THE LATEST CIRCUMSTANCES.
How to plan for the upcoming season
As of today, noone knows what is going to happen with Major League Baseball, much less the NFL. One thing is for certain....Bruno's will be open one way or the other. We put this page together to proactively answer some of the questions we anticipate you might be having. If we don't address it here, please drop us a line.
IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE ON THIS PAGE....be clear on this. We believe the NFL will play one way or another. Therefore, we recommend you have your draft as early as possible when it is safe to do so because we have no idea when there will be a Covid flareup that shutters everything in the summer. IF YOU BELIEVE THERE IS A HIGH LIKELIHOOD THAT THE NFL WILL PLAY (AND THAT YOUR LEAGUE WILL DRAFT) ORDER YOUR DRAFT BOARD SOONER THAN LATER. Understand it might take awhile to get it, but at least we'll be in the process of getting it.
General Bruno's is based in St. Louis. As of today, our county is under a stay at home order. Probably not a huge deal today as we can do much of our off-season planning remotely. But it does hamper our ability to do much of anything at our factory....including hiring for the summer. We will definitely have many of our products available for 2020, and if the timelines are not too messed up, we might just have everything available.
Bruno's Status We're not gonna sugar coat it. When MLB announced a 2-week delay to start the baseball season due to Covid-19, our sales turned off like a switch. We had a ton of inventory already produced, which had to be scrapped. We had to furlough our staff. We got in line with all the restaurants, salons, house cleaners, car dealers (in addition to the publicly held companies that you've started to hear about) to apply for the economic stimulus that you've heard so much about. In case you're wondering, we applied with Bank of America on the first day the program was available and were informed yesterday that they funded all the big companies and that the program ran out of money....even though we applied ON DAY 1. Nevertheless, we are confident that we'll end up ok, with or without a government bailout.
We have been through this before Not Covid-19, but through an uncertain summer. Do you remember the NFL strike in 2011? It was similar in that late Spring through Mid Summer was up in the air. We hired our staff for the summer (back then we only had 6 staffers) with the promise that we try to keep 'em busy and that it could get very busy. AND DID IT EVER on July 25, when the NFL announced and end to the strike. We had an absolute tidal wave of orders and just couldn't keep up very well. It was chaos for the next month. Key takeaway for us: We are going to encourage our customers to get their orders in before crunch time to reduce the last-minute orders.
What about returns Guys, we hate to take a harsh stance on this, but as we mentioned above, the Virus is going to be brutal for our existance. If we had to accept returns for the entire season up until August, for example, it would put us out of business. Therefore, we ask that you understand we have to institute a "No Retuns Policy" for 2020.
We haven't had a baseball order in nearly a month and a half now. We hear rumblings that MLB is trying to have an abbreviated season, so most of you either already had your draft or will still have a chance. If you bought a draft board already and no longer need it, we are not able to accept returns. Hold onto it for next year, and just get labels.
If you need a new baseball draft board for your draft that is happening, we have plenty of labels in stock on most sizes. Feel free to order now.
